Sam Jankowitz

For Board

History & Philosophy of Science and Business
Junior

My name is Samantha Jankowitz and I hope to represent our student body as part of the Student Government Board. I am a Junior studying History & Philosophy of Science and Business. I first became interested in Student Government Board after serving as the Philanthropy Assistant to the Panhellenic Association. As a sister of Alpha Delta Pi, a founding member of both Phi Gamma Nu and CURE Pitt, and an active member of both Hillel and Chabad, I believe I represent a diverse community of students on campus.

My primary passion is to promote and improve the safety of all students at the University of Pittsburgh. To begin, I would reform the travel methods for students. I would add technological advancements into daily travel, such as a customized version of the Companion App for walking home safely and the Ride Systems App for navigating the roads. Additionally, I would like to work with administration on ensuring that Safe Rider is available for all students within the radius of the shuttle, regardless of location and proximity to a shuttle route.

I would like to work with the Title IX office and continue the fight against sexual violence and sexual misconduct. While Pitt is not alone in this fight, I believe that the women on this campus have a right to more aid both mentally and physically. I would love to increase arenas in which women have an ability to relieve stress, or face health issues such as nutrition and body image.

I would like to continue to see our great institution thrive and improve, while fostering the talents the Pitt student body currently possesses. I would be honored to work with the other incredible leaders on Board in helping make our campus the strongest it could be. Hail to Pitt!
